Whether you got your materials from our Napier or Taradale branch, you can put them in the returns bins at any of the following locations: Napier Library, Taradale Library, Tamatea PAK'nSAVE, Napier PAK'nSAVE, Taradale Four Square, and all three Hastings District Libraries branches (Havelock North, Hastings, and Flaxmere).
Note: When returning Napier Libraries books at Hastings District Libraries branches, items are processed once they reach their home library. This service runs twice a week on a Monday and Thursday.
To check your items' due dates, log in to the library catalogue using your library card number and password. Forgot your password? Reset it here. Once you've logged in, you can also reserve and renew items.

Yes, you can access free Wi-Fi at both our Napier and Taradale branches. Wi-Fi is unlimited when using your own device. If you're using our public computers, your session may be limited to 30 minutes if there are other users waiting.

Joining Napier Libraries is quick, free, and easy. Membership of the library service is free to all residents of Napier City and Hastings District. There is no minimum age for joining, but those under the age of 16 years, their parent or guardian will need to present ID. Once you've completed the online sign-up process, you'll have immediate access to our app and online resources. To get a library card, just pop into one of our branches with your ID. No proof of address is required.

A member can be any person or organisation residing in the district of Hawke's Bay who accepts the Libraries' conditions of membership.
Membership is obtained by completing the online membership form and confirming identity by presenting one form of ID with a signature (preferably photo ID e.g. drivers licence). By clicking the &"Accept" button on the online form, the member agrees to abide by the conditions listed on the application.
You are responsible for items you have borrowed. If items are lost or damaged, a charge may be incurred. Please contact us so we can assist if you do damage or lose an item. For a breakdown of current fees and charges please visit our Fees and Charges page.
We ask that you contact us or update your details online if you lose your card, change your name or your contact details.
A membership card and password enables issuing, use of the self-service machines and Library app, checking library records, placing requests/reserves, accessing library services, and management of membership. Another form of valid ID may be requested in the absence of a Library Card.
Adult membership (16 years and over).
Children under 16 years of age joined as a member by their parent/guardian and can borrow items from the children's, teens and adult sections of the library. (JNY) At the request of the parent/guardian, the child can be restricted to borrowing from the children's area only. (JNN)
For teachers affiliated with a school, kindergarten or childcare centre, or a home-schooling family in the District of Hawke's Bay:
A delivery service for those who cannot physically visit the library. Eligibility includes people living in the Napier area, and who are confined at home due to age, permanent or temporary disability or illness. Each case will be assessed on a case by case basis.
