Taradale Library Air Con Upgrade

On Tuesday 27 September, work is commencing to replace the existing air-conditioning system at Taradale Library – a much needed upgrade that will enhance the comfort levels for library users, especially during the warmer months of summer.

Over the course of the three months that this work will be carried out, there will be some unavoidable disruptions that we would like to respectfully notify you of;

For those residing in the immediate vicinity of the library:

  • At times it is likely you may see one or more people working on the roof of the library, and we apologise for any loss of privacy this may cause – any requirement for this will be kept to a minimum.

For library users:

  • As with any work of this nature, there is likely to be increased levels of noise at various times throughout this period, while the team work to remove the existing system, prepare the space for the new system and then install this.
  • There is also likely to be an increase in traffic at times with various tradespeople and heavy vehicles visiting the site to bring in equipment and/or complete their required works.
  • At times, the carpark area will need to be closed to both vehicles and pedestrians, for the pick-up and deliveries of heavy / bulky items and equipment. Signage will clearly inform you of how and where to access the library during this period.
  • The library will need to be closed to the public for a period of one to two weeks, with dates to be confirmed. This is likely to be late November, with dates to be confirmed and made public ASAP.
  • For those who use the park, during this period of work a small area of the park grounds will be closed of an inaccessible.
  • The below image outlines the area that will be most affected in an ongoing basis during this period of work.

Lastly, it is possible that we may experience some warmer days during this period of work given the time of year. Planning is underway to find practicable measures to manage the temperature inside the library as best we can, whilst the new system is being installed. It may, however, be warmer inside the library than what people are used to.

We thank you, in advance, for your understanding as we work to enhance the experience at one of our key community facilities; we look forward to being well prepared for another warm Hawke’s Bay summer.
